My biggest complaint about Factions is the gates, which I think most people would agree is bad for the most part. Tyria allowed freedom of travel so that PvPers who wanted to quickly go and cap their elites to make their PvE character PvP ready could do so. Canthan elites are stuck behind hours of stressful missions and mindless quests, unless you happen to have a very good group and never have to repeat anything. If gates could be unlocked on a per account basis, rather than per account, it wouldn't be so bad.
|
IMO elite skills are much easier to capture in Factions than in Prophecies, especially with how easy it is to gain skill points, even for the casual player. I actually like having the gates up because it stops people from just running the whole thing.
Besides, if you're complaining about having to reroll characters to cap skills, why? In Factions you have to pay a one-time fee of 500gp for each secondary you change to, so it makes capturing skills easy to do with only one character. All you have to do is unlock the gates on your initial character if you only want to play PvE for the unlocks.

I am not sure but think he means this one
http://gwtactics.com/staticpages/index.php?page=pre2
the back of the bets box that was sold.
I think anet took rpg from the box knowing it was not a full rpg. If I were you check their web site it says anet to be a rpg company. However if you look at it. it does talk about more about pvp.
side note you would have never ever seen me in these fourms if it was not because of the eoe update :P
here is the link just on rpg, ideas to improve on it. so any rpg players who want to give inputs do so

What gave you the idea I was rerolling characters? I have 3 PvE characters from Tyria and 2 new ones from Cantha (plus a rit I'm using as a mule that's as far as Arborstone before I realized I didn't like the profession). If they're adding 2 new professions with each expansion, I'll barely have enough time to complete the new area's storylines (or whatever it takes to get the elites I need) with each character (and the older areas for any new characters I create) before the next expansion comes out. I play my PvE characters with the intent of having them be PvP ready.
As for gates, I would have gladly gone back to complete any missions I've skipped for whatever reason on my 2nd or 8th time through (especially since a fair number of missions have elites that are only found there). I just don't want to be told *when* I have to do it.

Really? Hmm, mine does. Where you get yours from? I heard others had it on theirs as well. Just wondering if certain prints (like the covers are different Eve, Devona etc) might have had text changed over time.
Not that this makes any difference at all mind you.. lol
Edit: NM, Dreamhunk answered it for me above.

just for the record mine was a preordered box from Gamestop which had been doing well for me.
i have since switched to Newegg.com as Gamestop charged me tax on the S/H and Newegg is as fast or faster

Totally OT, but I switched there as well. Much faster and better service for me.

I'm willing to bet there won't be any more professions. they went to the well once too often with the two new ones as it is.

Lack of Pve focus, lack of pvp focus, pretty much factions was a lack of everything considering it was 50 bucks. STUPID quests and god only knows what they were smoking when they thought up the elite mission system.
I would have rather bought 50bucks worth of taco bell buritos. That way my butt would been just as sore, but I at least got to enjoy some tangy mild sauce.

I'm using Factions as a quick way to gain XP and Skill points for my Prophecies characters. I've made a Factions Character (an Ele) who's main reason for being for the time being is a mule. I may start working her up through the storyline, but I'm not all that eager to do so.

Agree 100% - After waiting for more than 2 weeks to get the CE and not be able to go on with the game because I find it a bit too hard ...... Anet has already lost me!

its easy depending on the class you play. ANET should never have implimented deaths charge for assassins. they kill anyones chances of finding a pug for a mission from arborstone on when u cant do it with only one monk and a rit hench because everyone and their brother plays an assassin as a warrior and dies way too quickly, thus being a liability to their team.
also in the Boreas seabed, the hench cannot outheal a 232 dmg fireball from the ele boss.
I enjoy pvp and pve, but fell that both sides got shafted in this. the alliance system is just screwed. anyone thats not an officer cannot talk to the other guilds. so anyone thats in a guild will auto ask to be an officer and if they cant, then how do they ask across the alliance to get help? wasnt that the main idea behind the aliance feature?
also as stated, the 12v12 system is utterly useless as far as pvp goes. pvp players gain nothing out of it other than goign in to basically scew around, and yet all youre doing is inflating prices o nthings as a few people can go earn enough faction to buy things in a little amount of time and resel lthem for profit. ie. jade and amber. Thuse your basicaly encouraging farming, yet you nerf areas where the pve people farm... forcing them to try, you guessed it PVP.
way too many things are imbalanced at the moment in guildwars. both in pve and pvp.

Blaming Death's Charge for everything wrong with assassins is just a crutch. I've seen plenty of fine assassins that only ended up dying because of stupid warriors that played like mindless idiots.
Maybe you just aren't that great of a player if you have problems with henchies? I henched with my assassin. Minister Cho's Estate to Eternal Grove melee with Death's Charge and managed roughly 20 deaths during that time. I didn't pick up a bow and Barrage until I hit Raisu Palace because I was tired of waiting 3 hours for a group.
Hench or not, no one can outheal a 232 dmg fireball from an ele boss along with everything else he throws out. You can't just brute force every mission with the holy trinity (tank, nuke, heal). You need interrupts and other forms of damage mitigation. Assassins have interrupts if they bother to think ahead enough to buy them (Disrupting Stab, Exhausing Assault). The assassin hench always brings them.

Assassins are extremely easy to play once the player learns to let the warriors get aggro first. I agree with you completely though, those assassin's that haven't figured that out yet, cause issues for us all.

I've been trying to put that into words for a good while. 100% agree. - I always get flamed for trying to say that though, I'm not great at putting my thoughts down in print though. hehe

in case you missed it they have already shown the 2 new professions for chapter 3
it was also stated long ago that not all chapters would have new professions.
10 professions seems like a good point to take a breather and adjust/fix/add content to the overall game.
just my guess
